Hamilton's Tavern 1840 - Harpers Ferry

We decided to try Hamilton’s Tavern on a last minute whim. What a great find!! Our hostess/waitress was wonderful. She answered all of our questions, was very attentive, and she even surprised me with a candle on my cheesecake for my birthday. The food was phenomenal. We ate dinner there on Saturday and went back for brunch on Sunday. The polpetta is an amazing must. The sourdough bread that is served with it is lathered with butter and mouthwatering. The tomato bisque was the best I’ve ever had. My husband’s hamburger was thick and even though he got it well done it was extremely juicy. If you have a chance to get their sausage gravy and ginormous biscuit- do it! We cannot wait to go back.

First time in Harpers Ferry and went here on our first night in town. Food was excellent, from the appetizer to the dessert. Waitress was very polite and attentive. We will definitely be going back.

Hamilton’s arguably served up the best Thanksgiving meal I’ve ever had. The atmosphere and service were impeccable. Chef always delivers!

We were told after we were seated that we have to have a mask on while not drinking or eating. I read the WV Covid guidelines and it did not say that! The expanded guideline was masks to be worn indoors even if social distancing was observed, but not required while eating or drinking nor for those with breathing difficulties. The food was cold when it came and had to send back. After it was replayed, much better! The portion was much too small to what the cost they charged especially the surf and turf $28 (2 blackened shrimp and maybe 1 oz of filet, 3 asparagus, and a swipe of mashed potatoes).
