A first-time visit for us to the Lakefront Cafe, we stopped in for lunch during a recent 2-night stay in Harrison Hot Springs, and it was sure a fun, and enjoyable visit. The cafe is very small - with only three booth-tables inside, but each providing ample seating space for four adults (allowing a little more room for a couple of small children), plus, three small, round tables, for 2-3 seating outside — a rather ‘cool’, sort of retro-look inside, with several pictures of some music artists and film stars from their ‘younger-days’ of the 50’s and 60’s — a posted ’chalkboard’ menu (no written menus), you order at the service counter, choose a table, and the order is then brought to you.Service - friendly, personal, accommodating ’mom & pop’ style when we were there (which was a rather busy time, during Harrison’s current ‘Festival of the Arts’) — Dad in the kitchen, and totally-involved with food preparations, and Mom working the service counter and tables, for all food & drink orders, and takeouts — a great team!Food - we went to try the fish & chips, it was now pushing noon, and we were ready, but did we really need/want three orders? We took the host’s helpful suggestion and advice - “they’re rather large servings, two orders would likely be just right for the three of you to share” - and shared two, full orders — it turned out to be of perfect size for our lunch. And ‘wow’ did they look, and taste good! The fish fillets, very hot, thick, and moist - the batter, thin, and crispy - the chips, well-prepared, light crispy outside — the combination, ‘the’ best looking and tasting fish & chips put in front of us anywhere in a good long while!Stopping into the Lakefront Cafe for lunch was a fun and most-delightful dining experience. We liked the ambiance, the hosts were super nice, and the fish & chips preparations so tasty good. It was definitely “our kind of place” and we are so happy to have been able to stop in and try it.
