We made a reservation, arrived, and ordered our meals. However, this time our experience was not great. The fish pie was bland and tasteless, and the scampi was the same. Although the young man serving us was friendly, when we expressed our disappointment with the food, he didn't know how to handle it and just said ok. We may return for drinks next time we're in Harrogate, but it will take us a while to trust the food quality again.
I stopped by this restaurant for a glass of wine while the girls were shopping. They have a great selection of local beers, and the friendly bar staff made my experience enjoyable in the lively pub atmosphere. The chardonnay and sauvignon blanc were both great value for money.
That's probably the old bell pub. eating is hearty and varied. good value. beer excellent with many gastronomy and an extensive beer menu. Good atmosphere, but acoustic can challenge the conversation if full.
The food is most definitely home made/cooked. Everything was fresh and not just kept warm. Carrots tasted carroty, you know what I mean. I had steak and ale pie with chips. Came with carrots, parsnips, broccoli, gravy and pea shoots. There is a great range of real ales and strong bottled beer
This is a very fine pub with a good selection of decent craft shops and comfortable seating. because it was just opposite our hotel, it became a real home from home! we didn't eat there, but there were many.
