Stopped here as it was half way on our walk. It was raining but we managed to get a table under the outside covered area. Bit confusing as you have to order at a window but because it was raining I went inside and asked a young man if I could order. He said I needed to go outside to the window to order. So I did. However it turns out that he didn't mention to anyone that I was there waiting to order! A few minutes later a woman appeared at the window and apologized that she didn't know I was there. I ordered a latte, scone and toasted teacake and went back to my table. After a long time the latte came (which was good but the smallest latte glass I've ever seen A while later the toasted teacake appeared (which was standard and I asked about the scone which I was told was coming (no idea why they didn't bring it with the teacake? Another while later and the scone appeared. It was quite small and was slightly warm on the outside but it was cold on the inside (like it had just come out of the fridge? I opted to have jam and cream with the scone. For £1.10 extra I expected real cream so getting a small plastic pot with squirty cream is not just a rip off but really not what you expect with a scone. The staff were all very nice but the whole thing just seemed very disorganized and slow. There were only a few other people sitting inside while we were there so no idea why it took so long for everything to arrive? Might stop here again for drinks in future as the coffee was nice, but we need to make sure we've got plenty of spare time!
Been to the Watermill today, would highly recommend this hidden gem. Home cooked food and portions excellent, loverly staff who gave attentive service. Will certainly visit again.
A friend treated me to afternoon tea at this cafe. The setting is idyllic, and it was a lovely experience. The staff were polite and efficient, and the food was not only delicious, but also good value for money. We ended up bringing a lot of the cakes home. Strongly recommended and on a sunny day, unbeatable. Even had it been raining, and we had been indoors, it would have been worth it for the actual food, and the ever present sound of the weirs. thank you.
Had a lovely breakfast here this morning, amazing to see the cafe open, warm and welcoming- even when the autumn weather was against them! Delicious food and fantastic service- thank you very much for your hospitality!
