Shug's Smokehouse - Hartsville

This is one of our favorite restaurants. We make an hour-long drive just to dine here. The sushi is fantastic, and the filet mignon is so tender it practically melts in your mouth. The service is excellent, and our drinks are always topped off. Our waitress consistently earns a generous tip. The only downside is that the layout doesn't accommodate large groups. If there were a way to give them 10 stars, I certainly would!

We ordered beef tips and a NY strip steak. The NY strip was cooked medium, but it was a bit undercooked for my taste. My husband and I decided to swap our beef instead of sending it back. We sat at the bar, which had a nice, relaxed atmosphere.

We've been wanting to try Shug's for a while, especially after hearing great reviews from friends in the area. On a Saturday night, we waited about 20 minutes for a table, though we know it can be much longer depending on the time and day. Our drinks and honey butter croissant appetizers came out quickly, and the croissants were fantastic! Next, our daughter’s sushi arrived, which was also quite good. Our only complaint of the night was that our waitress seemed to vanish for 30 to 45 minutes before serving our main course. However, when our steaks finally arrived, they were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing! For dessert, our daughter ordered the lava cake, which was delicious as well. We really enjoyed our experience at Shug's and will definitely be back!

This is one of the best steakhouses in the area. The Shrimp and Grits is amazing, but I recommend getting it grilled. The venue itself is also very well put together for a nice atmosphere.

Dined here while visiting family in Bishopville. Every time we pass it, they are packed. We had to park in the grass across the road. (this is typical We choose to sit at the bar (NO WAIT: . Food was delicious, service was friendly and fast. Good conversations with neighboring patrons. Wish I took pictures.
