Dickey's Barbecue Pit - Hattiesburg

I placed an order for two meals through Dickey's website and scheduled it to be ready at a specific time. When I arrived, I was 10 minutes late and still had to wait for my food. There were only two customers inside at the time. The food was decent, but surprisingly, the standout items were the double berry cobbler and fries, not the meat—definitely an issue for a BBQ restaurant. On a positive note, the staff was friendly.

I've visited this restaurant several times with my coworkers, and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. We often have Mr. Willie as our server, and he is truly the sweetest person. His attentiveness makes our dining experience unforgettable. He is definitely a treasure!

Let’s start with the sausage. I ordered the combo platter with ribs and sausage, thinking it would be a safe choice. When I mentioned the sausage, the cashier asked if I wanted it spicy or regular. I opted for spicy, but what he failed to mention was that it’s not actually spicy at all. Instead, it’s sausage filled with cheddar cheese. Who thought this was a good idea? I assumed this was a Texas-based restaurant! When I took a bite, it was almost enough to make me gag—it was terrible. As for the ribs, they might have been decent if they hadn’t been drenched in barbecue sauce. If you’re smoking meat and need to cover it in sauce to make it edible, perhaps someone else should handle the smoking. And if you must use sauce, it should at least be good. Unfortunately, the sauce here is subpar, reminiscent of Kraft BBQ sauce, which I find disgusting. Now, about the spinach—calling it spinach is a disgrace. It’s basically 75% low-quality cheese with a few flecks of spinach mixed in. It tastes the way cat food smells. The slaw was actually decent; while it's not great, it was at least less offensive than the other dishes. Overall, you’d be better off grabbing a McRib. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.

I love this place. Everytime I?ve ever come the employees are so nice. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The only complaint I?ve ever had was they were out of sweet tea but we showed up like 15 minutes before closing so I don?t blame them for not making another batch.

Wasn't what I expected at all. I just wish the food was hot.
