What captures your attention—the inviting atmosphere, the exceptional food choices, or the amazing team working there? This restaurant truly embodies excellence in every way. From the moment you walk in until you leave, the food is a masterpiece; it’s an absolute treat for your taste buds! The ambiance is just as appealing. The decor and design alone make it worth your while—enjoy the original artwork, handcrafted sculptures, and unique pieces that enhance the space! Finally, the staff at both this location and the Wayne branch are outstanding. Our waitstaff was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and prompt. And Max, you truly are a breath of fresh air! I can’t wait to bring a copy of Truman Capote for my next visit! This place earns a 5-star rating from me!
I typically don't pay much attention to ambiance and decor in my reviews, but it's worth mentioning here since the restaurant is known for its quirky dog-themed decorations and cozy atmosphere. The food is outstanding, clearly outshining many other local eateries, but be ready to spend a little more. The least expensive entrée on the menu is around $29. The menu changes with the seasons, featuring creative and delicious dishes. In the fall, I had calamari and a short rib dish, and just this past weekend, I tried the spicy lamb bolognese (which wasn't particularly spicy) topped with a small dollop of pesto ricotta. It was rich and packed with flavor. My boyfriend ordered the double cheddar burger with truffle parmesan fries (not pictured), and he found it quite enjoyable. The burger is available year-round, along with their tasty meatloaf.
White Dog Cafe delivers a fantastic brunch experience, marked by attentive service and delicious dishes. The standout item was the warm donut appetizer, perfectly complemented by the homemade seasonal brunch bread, which featured a delightful banana bread during my visit. My beet and arugula salad, cleverly swapping avocado for cheese and topped with jumbo blackened shrimp, achieved an excellent balance of flavors and textures. The ambiance is vibrant and lively, and the restaurant attracts a steady crowd, so it’s a good idea to make a reservation during peak times. Overall, White Dog Cafe offers a memorable brunch outing, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience.
Decent food that 's pricey, but fresh, in a farmhouse-homey aesthetic. My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at White Dog Cafe. Service was friendly but slow--we looked at each other at one point and wondered what the holdup was. But soon enough we got our food. The green curry mussels were tender and flavorful. Loved the use of dill and the toasted bread. The heirloom tomato salad was perfectly dressed and very light and summery. We ordered it with chicken, which was a bit dry but tasty given the seasoning. The orecchiette was, as my husband put it, a challenging dish in that the broccoli rabe was very, very bitter, but I thought it was still decent. Glad it wasn 't swimming in oil or butter like some broccoli rabe dishes are in other places. Overall, we liked the food and thought it was fresh and tasty, if a bit overpriced.
Had brunch today with girlfriends visiting from out of state. There were a few hiccups between placing the order and receiving our food. But I won't go into details about the hiccups because the intent of my post is to highlight that our waitress was super sweet throughout and management was patient with us, professional, and very attentive. Thank you for delivering excellent customer service (and thank you, Chef, for accommodating my side salad).
