We started with mussels, which everyone said were delicious, although they were on the small side. The sauce was very flavorful. The bread was okay, but could have been improved with a few minutes in the oven. The house-made butter was unsalted and mixed with honey, which was a nice touch. The fillet egg rolls with crispy onions and horseradish sauce were a must-have. The menu was not too extensive, but offered a variety of options. The crab cakes were a good size with just enough filler to hold them together. The Cajun tuna with crab was tasty. We tried two specials - the Bronzino was light and flaky over corn and crab risotto with green beans, although I did find two bones in it. The pork chop special was the standout dish of the night. The waitress was friendly and the service was prompt, allowing us to enjoy our meal.
I am extremely saddened to learn that this restaurant served its last delicious meal on September 13, 2020. I have made countless happy memories dining here with friends and family throughout the years.
We had a birthday celebration with a group of 14 at this restaurant. The food was exceptional and the servers were excellent. We appreciated the BYOB policy. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so the long tables for larger parties felt a bit cramped with limited space to move around. We enjoyed some delicious appetizers, particularly the coconut shrimp, and tasty main dishes that included a large steak, veal dish, grouper special, and more. The beet salad was also very good.
Philly is filled to the brim with standout BYOB restaurants that feature eclectic and elevated menus, but in the suburbs the options are few and far between thus making them harder to find. But it was my dad who impressed me (I taught him well! by finding this crown jewel of a BYOB in an unassuming Havertown neighborhood, and it was Edgewood that managed to deliver an impressive dinner for my mom's birthday. The interior is roomy and comfortable decor with plenty of booths that can hold up to four. It also has an inviting decor with an open view that allows you to catch a glimpse of the kitchen staff at work. Upon arrival we were quickly welcomed, had our bottle of wine opened, and where presented with a menu of delectable options that were hard to choose from. while wild mushroom risotto fritters and and short rib flatbreads sounded like winning appetizers; we were instantly drawn to the cheese plate which featured brie, burrata, gorgonzola, and accompaniments like toasted almonds, fresh honey, and a delicious apple raisin chutney. with options like porterhouse style lamb chops, southern fried chicken, jumbo lump crab cakes, and bacon wrapped filet, any entree is a good decision. But I was especially drawn to and ended up ordering right with the shrimp and crab scampi with angel hair pasta, roasted tomatoes, and baby spinach in a pinot grigio broth.Choosing dessert would have also proven difficult if they hadn't of featured a 3 for $20 dessert sampler. My folks were satisfied with their vanilla creme brulee and honey ricotta cheesecake, and I was especially tantalized by the molten chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Overall Edgewood is a BYOB that can contend with those standout city ones. But it remaining on an unassuming suburban block gives it a solid hidden treasure status.
Apologies for the late review Edgewood. Visit: Thursday Dec 29, 2016 Located in a tiny strip of pre-war storefronts in a Havertown neighborhood of the same era is this BYO gem. Fellow Yelper Regina M and I along with our men brought a bottle of wine and hungry bellies to Edgewood and we were thrilled from the start. We had an awesome server and I am sad to have forgotten her name. She was training another server that evening and that didn't affect our service in any way. It was 5 stars. And the trainee was good too. All 4 of us dined on 5 star entrees and said we will definitely be back.
