The inside is clean and appealing. Very cozy. The food is great and always consistent . Some of my favorites are the shrimp cocktail, the paella and their homemade potato chips. The sangria is amazing. Very tasty but packs a punch, make sure your not driving! I would always recommend it here, I find it better than going to Newark for similar food and they are family owned!
My partner and I gathered tonight to this establishment located in Hawthorne to celebrate a milestone birthday with friends and family. The entrance to their small parking lot is a bit tricky if one is not from the area as it's right by the bridge. Upon arrival, Spanish artwork of matadors and bulls can be seen throughout the restaurant. Being basically of Spanish cuisine, the menu features paellas, seafood, shrimp, lobster, steaks, sausages, etc. Complimentary rolls started our family menu consisting of a side salad, Penne in Vodka Sauce, Paella Valenciana with no lobster (Rice, Chicken, Sausage and Shellfish), Chicken Extremena, Veal Castellana (Sautéed in Sherry Wine and Artichokes). The food tasty, the sangria perfect and the service attentive. The only complaint we were being rushed to start the meal before the arrival of the celebrant.
From beginning to end this place was the total package. It was highly recommended by one of my wife 's co-workers. Place could use a little renovating in the main dining room but aside from that a solid 5 stars. From the staff that couldn 't have been more attentive, we had three different persons waiting on our table all friendly and courteous. We 've been to plenty of Spanish restaurants and you 'll see most of the same dishes, Paella, Mariscada, shrimp in garlic you get it. But the true distinction is how it 's prepared and what ingredients go into making their dish slightly different. Everything we had here was by far superior in taste than any other Spaniard restaurant we 've eaten at. The green sauce that came with my wife 's Mariscada was so good that I could have had that alone as a soup, I couldn 't stop dunking my bread in it. The snails we had as an appetizer, by the way there were two snails per shell were soft and tender and very garlicky but not enough to overpower the taste. My broiled seafood combo came in its own sauce and was just as delicious as the green sauce. The calamari slices were delicious and cooked perfectly. Portions were gracious and plentiful. This place is definitely a winner in my book. Heck I even did my happy dance in the parking lot when my wife wasn 't looking, BTW I 'm a bad dancer LOL. Will we be coming here again? You bet your A we will.
This restaurant was pretty good. My dad and I ordered pickup from here last night and we got Paella Valenciana for 2. For the amount of food they give you, the price is good. They say it's for 2 people but honestly it could feed 5. It also came with homemade potato chips and 2 bread rolls which I loved. I would buy those chips and bread in huge bags if I could. The paella was good, but not amazing. It was pretty wet and the flavor wasn't great. However, they do give you a lot of seafood in it. They were also on time and I got my food right when I arrived. I would probably come back here, I would just get a different dish and a smaller serving of paella to share with others.
If a have to give a star, it's only one, for the good service. The food!!! Oy!!! Terrible, no taste, no fragrance, no freshness, no herbs, Spain would be so upset to know you call this spanish food!!
