We visited during the off-season, but from November to April, there’s a restaurant that operates daily. Just a heads up: there is low clearance over the railroad tracks between Highway 301 and the campground. Additionally, there's a short distance (about 35-40 feet) between the tracks and Highway 301, so make sure to be mindful of your rig's length when leaving.
This is a charming little spot with adorable alligators and picnic tables. It's a great place to take a break!
A maintenance worker on a golf cart was drinking beer and giving us unpleasant looks, making me feel unsafe and uncomfortable for my family. After a while, he drove off to harass some of the long-term residents living in their run-down campers. We heard shouting, and it seemed like a fight could break out at any moment. I understand that this is a campsite, not a luxury resort, but the overall atmosphere and the presence of unsavory individuals made me feel very uneasy. I do not feel that Lochloosa Harbor Resort is a safe place for my family and me, and we will not be returning. It seems like the resort does not welcome minorities, and it's evident that many of those who work and live there share that sentiment.
I have visited a few times over the last several years. My in-laws are permanent residents there and every time I have visited, it is always a very nice, friendly and clean place to visit. I have never encountered anything I would consider noisy, unfriendly, or not a place to take your family.Pictures have been one of my favorite places to take at sunset!
This is Old Florida at its best! Some of the best bass and Crappie fishing around! Great people, beautiful, and old world charming.
