Pretty decent eating, beautiful little street side diner, great you can find here in nwt. amazing service .
While on a sightseeing trip to the Northwest Territories we had an early dinner at Board Room Restaurant. This was the only restaurant open on a Sunday on a public holiday, thank you. We had a Caesar Salad each and shared a pizza. The pizza was really excellent. However, the restaurant interior is typical for many northern establishments, a little worn, outdated, and tired looking. The sunroom addition allows for a lot of natural light.
I had the Chinese Buffet for Lunch one day and returned for Supper two days later. The food was great both times, the service was quick and friendly, and the price was very good. I have eaten here a year ago and it was nice to see that they have kept their service and quality consistent.
This place makes fantastic pizza! It's rare to see pizzas nowadays loaded with cheese the way they do it. The sauce is homemade as well, and the meats are great. The lunch buffet is very reasonable. At first glance, their 6 dishes selection turns you off. But each of them is above average in quality, especially the pizza. If ordering off the menu, the wonton soups wontons tastes good but the BBQ pork is terrible. It tastes like expired BBQ pork. All other Chinese dishes are Americanized. It's not good at all if you are into authentic Chinese food. Staff are friendly and is pretty much the only restaurant in Hay River that actually is adequately staffed. The chicken nuggets, wings and pizza is what makes this place shine. Stick to the western food and you won't be disappointed.
