Cafe Du Nord - Haymarket

This is a fairly good cafe near central station. The serving sizes are quite big which is helpful if you are hungry and tired after a long train journey. The staff are quite friendly.

I'm wondering if this is supposed to be a replica of some cafe at the Gare du Nord in Paris.

Awful place. Table next to us covered in chicken bones which no one attempted to clean away set the scene nicely. Gave us the wrong coffee and food. Service was surly and incredibly slow. Every customer was complaining about the slow service, as did we. The owner told us to go upstairs if we wanted fast food! They lied to my face about how long my food would take but they did at least agree to give me a refund when I couldn't wait any longer. We only went there because we were in a massive hurry. Big mistake.

It is tucked away on the lower levels of the station near the coach station entrance. It is shaded with indoor and outdoor (under the arches) seating. Very good coffee and a strong set of basic choices from a small cafe. Snacks and light meals. Definitely the best in the station.
