I had a hankering for a chicken and mushroom pie but would have happily settled for anything except a curry pie. So instead, I got a hot dog and tried one of the apple turnovers. Shame they didn't have more pies to sell because we weren't the only customers wanting pies.
Supper in chinatown area? Stop by for this oversized hot dog with chili. If u prefer some pastry. They also have pies with mushy peas. Located just outside city's capitol and infront of central's lightrail stop.
Cheap, tasty, filling and right in the middle of the city...what else do you want for a afternoon snack? I usually visit the original but this time I didn't get the opportunity so I headed to the one closest, can't complain, and who doesn't enjoy a Aussie pie? I just wish we had them in Melbourne.
Smack bang in the centre of Capitol theatre, and a few of the best pubs and restaurants. You can't go wrong with a chilli dog from Harry's Cafe de wheels, any time of the day. Pro: consistent quality in food and service. Con: shady location at night
As a child, the ultimate challenge was biting into a Big Mac without having the filling fall out the other end and onto my lap. As a teen, the ultimate challenge was biting into a Hotdog de Wheels without having the filling fall out the sides and onto my lap. These days, there's barely enough filling in a Big Mac to cause a concern and it was equally disappointing when my Harry's hotdog did not live up to the memories of my formative years. Have I really outgrown the burger/hotdog or have they substantially shrunk in size? Those are the serious questions we should be asking! Regardless, the hotdog was fairly average on my most recent visit. Mushy peas did not have much flavour and the chilli con carne was relatively dry. There was just very little that was memorable about this famed hotdog. Chicken pie had a great short pastry and the same was used as the top sealing lid. This worked well because the crust itself was very thin and light, so a puff was not required. Filling again, was lack lustre and didn't quite have me craving for more. However, I must admit that this remains an easy meal on the run, with prices still relatively cheap.
