Lao City Thai - Haymarket

Tasty, affordable food. Service is basic, but friendly

One of the little gems around the city. Lao City was introduced to me by my girlfriend, and we often regular here. Food here is spectacular. I highly recommend their papaya salads and grilled fish. However, one heads up about the fish it isn't de scaled, so be sure to skin the fish before eating.

Lao City Thai might look the same as the other cheap-and-cheerfuls. Maybe that’s why, despite being around since 2011, it hasn’t been discovered by the hordes of food bloggers (me included). A quick google search shows a few reviews on sites like Urbanspoon, Yelp, Eatability etc, but not by food blogs. Try it, This is incredibly tasty food that's very close to what you'd get overseas. I think you’ll love it and please, spread the word.

Had the som tum with crab takeaway. Really nice flavours. Light and fresh. Really decently priced menu.
