Escaping a tropical style downpour, we open the door into Spring Yunnan, and feel like we’ve stepped into another world. The beautifully decorated space is alive with riotous colour. In the diverse décor elements, modern meets traditional, with the overall effect reading less like an interior designer’s clever theme, and more like a genuine attempt to reflect the diversity of China’s south-west province. Dangling above your head are rows of embroidered tassels in eye-popping pinks and oranges, found on both people and buildings in Yunnan. The lights are made from shiny silver alloy crowns, worn by Miao women on special occasions. The Miao are just one of the ethnic minorities who can be found in the ethnically diverse Yunnan province, home to significant populations of twenty-six of China’s fifty-six recognised ethnic groups. With all that ethnic diversity, defining Yunnanese cooking is...
The place was warm coloured, friendly and clean. I had seen the restaurant on Zomato, so I thought I would give it a try. <br/ <br/ I ordered the rose infused tea with brown sugar. <br/ <br/ When the hot pot (lunch special) it was good not amazing. There was these things that I didn't like. Ribbon shaped and a weird texture. <br/ <br/ I came to spring yunnan for the rose dumplings. They are amazing.<br/
Although it's a Chinese food restaurant, it specially provides traditional Yunnan Cuisine such as Rice noodle. <br/ However, we tried something different. The shop has just opened for months and now they have upgraded their menu. <br/ <br/ #Yummy Yunnan Cold Noodle# As the name suggests, haha, it's yummy and colourful. They made noodles as base and put carrot, cucumber, chicken slices on the top. Healthy and best for one person who comes alone.<br/ <br/ #Stir fried pork hooves with dried chilli# A spicy dish but I'm pretty sure those who are fond of with spicy food will fall in love with this. It perfectly mixes chilli with pork hooves and even though you try to get remove chilli on the meat, it's still spicy.<br/ <br/ #Sweet and sour eggplant stuffed with pork mince# is a kind of fried eggplant, but not greasy. They cooked mince inside the eggplant, which is unique. <br/ <br/ The best would be the dessert #Sweet Sticky Rice Pudding# It's so delicious and we ordered for three times!!! And still feeling not enough! Although it's popular in China, I didn't see a lot of Chinese restaurant offering this. It's sweet, and with sticky rice along with currant and sweet bean taste nice.<br/ <br/ There are a variety of Chinese tea available in the shop. They use beautiful transparent tea pot, served with traditional small dishes.
Love the ambience and the food taste really good! <br/ <br/ The dragonfruit pancake was definitely something unique and a must try!<br/ <br/ Great thay they've got lunch combos during the weekdays and for dinner they've got more varieties of food. <br/ <br/ Highly recommend the pickled vegetables with toufu and fish broth the right amount of sourness in the soup and you get to choose the level of spiciness. <br/ <br/ Definitely will come back again as location is easy accessible within CBD.
I walked past this place recently and promised myself to come back and try out their noodles. They do a variety of stir fries but I ordered the signature yunnan noodle soup. It came in a big clay pot, piping hot and you are then instructed to add in the items from the cold plate raw first and then the condiments. I questioned whether it was too big for one person but the portion of noodles is just enough, it's just the soup comes in a mega bowl. Priced at $20.80 it is a bit dear for lunch, I wonder if they could do a smaller sized soup bowl and charge a little less. Even though the soup was beautifully light and fresh, it is too much for one person to finish so it feels wasted. The signature yunnan noodle is a must try and highly recommended (and better than two sticks)Friendly and efficient service. I would definitely be back.
