I am typically offered a couple of bottles of water and a snack. Not here. Otherwise; the woman working the desk seemed trained on the fundamentals. My last six (recent) Hampton/Hilton stays included a hot breakfast offering but not this property. At 8:15 ish AM; coffee urns were all empty. No bananas. No muffins. No OJ. No waffles. Kids cereal and milk were available. Another guest mentioned bananas and muffins being available in the pantry, so I assumed if it was okay for them, it must be okay for me to retrieve a few errant items. Apparently, not okay. Staffer immediately closed the sliders to block the pantry then asked if there was something I needed. Um, yeah ... coffee, banana, Raisin Bran, OJ. He delivered everything but the OJ. The other guest that had encouraged my foray in to the pantry shrugged and apologized ... not his fault.
Room was very clean with new decor. Room was great. I had one problem. I had hip replacement a few weeks ago and ask for a room on first floor. I made the reservation about 3 weeks ago. They put me on the second floor. I have to use a cane and is hard for me to walk alot. We have family here so I may have to stay at another hotel. I'm 67 years old, it shouldn't be that hard to get a room on the first floor and closer to the door. They do have a Holiday Inn express here also. Thanks for reading this. Latricia Smith.
Clean room, decent workout facility, and nice to have gas station and food market nearby . The food for breakfast was kind of limited, potatoes were too salty so some was inedible , the pool was just as warm as jacuzzi in pool area even after asking them to increase temp oh and jets didn't work .
The hotel was nice, updated, and clean however when we first checked in on Friday night there was a horrible sewer gas smell in our room. I figured the smell was from a dry trap but even after we ran water in shower and sink it didn't go away. I didn't worry about switching rooms the first night since it was already nearly midnight. The next morning the room still smelled awful and my wife woke up with a headache and upset stomach which she had through Sunday likely related to the sewer gas as those are side effects of exposure. The first thing Saturday morning I spoke to the girl at the front desk about switching rooms. She was nice and tried to be accommodating and said she was trying to get us a new room, later she told me nothing was going to be available and she couldn't switch us rooms. We were in town for a wedding along with many others so I understand there may not have been another room available. I went to the grocery store and picked up an air freshener and Lysol, this helped minimize the smell. I closed the shower drain on Saturday morning, the smell did improve. We showered Saturday afternoon and went to the wedding Saturday night. Unfortunately we forgot to close the bathroom door and plug the shower drain and when we returned to the room late Saturday the smell was overwhelming again. We woke up Sunday with headaches and upset stomachs. Sunday morning at checkout I asked to talk to the manager about a discount or some type of credit because the smell was clearly coming from the shower drain. Normally places will at least give a bit of discount if they can't switch rooms. The manager was rude and dismissive of us, she was dead set that it wasn't the hotel's problem even when we explained the smell clearly went away when we closed the shower drain. She said it was coming in from outside and wouldn't budge nor hear us out. She was very rude to my wife and I and insisted we were wrong. I spoke to many other family and friends who were also staying in the same hotel for the wedding. I even went to a few of their rooms and no body else had this problem/smell. The manager said we weren't the only room with the smell but I spoke with at least 10 others none of which had the odor. We thought the hotel was nice, we enjoyed the pool, breakfast, and location. I'm extremely disappointed in the way the manager Sunday morning handled our concerns and didn't care at all. I regularly stay at Hilton hotels and they are my preferred chain of choice however if this is the way management handles situations such as this I will be looking to other locations in the future. I received an email from general manager Justin Combs, he too insisted the smell was coming from above the hotel where the city crews were working to repair and replace a sewer line/drain. He stated the sewer smell did impact the entire hotel and they had other guests that were noticing the smell as they walked into the lobby of the hotel as well as multiple other guests that had complained of the sewer smell in their room. We did not notice smells in any other location including the lobby or outside nor did any other of our friends and family members in many of the other rooms notice the smell. If the smell was coming from outside and not the drain then why did the smell go away when I plugged the shower drain and nobody else I spoke with had concerns nor did the desk clerk/manager say other guests were complaining about the smell until I received the email from Justin.
I stayed here once and I couldn't believe how horrendous my experience was, the women working there would be seen flirting with men numerous times, I was starting to think if this place is a cover for a brothel or some shit. Very unfriendly, harsh people. Awful. The food was terrible and gave me diarrrhea. The owner or whoever was there running things was harsh and looked hungover or high or something, actually several people did honestly. The whole place reeked of sewer or something, my room was dirty, crumbs and stuff left in the fridge, sheets looked like they were dirty. All in all a real nighthmare, do not go here. If you are in Hazard go to America's Best Value Inn or Holiday Inn.
