I had a heifer Weitzen beer, which was pretty good, but the service was exceptional. They gave us plenty of time in the European way, and came to check on us and when we were ready. always courteous, and always with a smile.
Spectacular meal! Varied German cuisine menu. Full beer and wine list. We had local favorites. White asparagus, potato pancake, bratwurst, liver dumpling. Fantastic! Great hosts/owners. Love the building (original). Very reasonable prices. Don't miss!!!
This was one of the first restaurants I had eaten at when I arrived in Heidelberg as part of their Head start program. It was a nice atmosphere, and the food was always delicious. I loved their potato soup and their bratwurst. That is what I usually got when I went here. This is also the first place I ever tried apfelschorle (fizzy apple juice).
Good German restaurant with a nice rustic feel. They seem take pride in their Maultauschen, and I found their Maultauschen soup delicious! Also enjoyed a Jäger Schnitzel (with Fries) and an Apfelstrüdel, both quite satisfying and nicely sized. Service was very friendly. Menu is in German and English. Tip: grab a table by the window and take in the sights of the main street while enjoying your meal!
Another culinary hit on my Europe trip!! I had the spetzel which is a pasta found in Germany, Austria etc. It is a soft egg noodle pasta with a creamy sauce that is not overly cheesy of heavy. It was served with a side salad topped with the most incredible salad dressing. I wish I could bottle it up and bring home but it's made in house! Washed down with a Heidelberger...when in Rome, or in this case Heidelberg! Unpretentious, we'll priced, beautiful baroque decor, attentive servers and delicious food....what more can you ask for?! My only complaint is that there seemed to be no heat on, the restaurant was freezing!!
