The Golden Lion - Helperby

We are spending two weeks in Yorkshire with family, and my partner and I were on the lookout for an authentic Yorkshire pub. We found just that last night. With an incredibly warm and welcoming landlord and his family, this pub truly deserves to be the heart of the village. I wish it were around the corner from my home!

The atmosphere is excellent, and there's a great selection of beverages and spirits, especially gin. This is exactly what a village pub should be.

We had a wonderful evening at this countryside pub, where the home-cooked meals were truly satisfying. The pies were generous in size, and the fresh vegetables were cooked to perfection. We were too full for dessert, but the large scoop of Neapolitan ice cream brought back fond memories. The decor was warm and tastefully done, creating a cozy atmosphere. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, eager to make a success of the pub, which they have recently taken over. The chatter at the bar with the locals added to the relaxed vibe of the place. The Golden Lion is definitely worth a visit, and we plan to return.
