I love Aleksanterinkatu and everything that is connected, but this new cafe is a great spot for hanging out with a friend or just working remotely, and they have quite a fine selection of cakes and other easy food things to have with coffee, and a plenty of coffee options of course. The cake I had was may be not the most amazing one, same for the coffee, but I anyway liked the place a lot and would try something different next time!
Definitely overpriced. But nice location, interior (especially the second floor and amazing coffee. My beloved drink is superkahvi, which feels like a meal tho : Raw cakes on the display only look yummy, but don’t be fooled. That was the only time I appreciated the small nature of the pieces there. The coffee flavored cake I paid 7e for tasted like butter and sand. Ice cream was quite nice. Also vegan options available!
This place would be closed down in a month in coffee loving cities like Melbourne or Milan. And I mean proper coffee. Is it any longer acceptable to serve a flat nice that looks like my photo? The viscosity of the milk is wrong. The coffee bean has no character. And forget about latte art. The (very) young servers needs barista training. Come here if you like a cute interior decor and good wifi. But if you're a real speciality coffee lover, you'll be disappointed.
Good single origin roasts and they seem to know what they’re doing using the v60, but my coffee was luke warm and extremely sour (sour you could debate, but luke warm you can’t . Excellent croissant. Tried to discuss the coffees with the barista (manager? but he seemed pretty busy, dismissive and not interested in discussing his roasts. It was a letdown after all the hype I’d heard from other baristas around town. He never even asked how I liked the cup. I’ve got no time for that kind of service. If you want to enjoy a great cup and not feel like you’re an interloper, I recommend Johan Nystrom, Cafe Artisan, Cafetoria, Kaffa Roastery or We Got This.
The food, the coffee, the price and the design are great but there is a real cleaning problem, half of the tables are unusable due to dishes being left on them. It looks like a management problem as there is not enough staff to serve and clean properly. Would help if clients took their tray away themselves in the first place... Still, a place with a lot of potential
