Penny - Helsinki

List was very short on Saturday afternoon. This resturnt is usually quite crowded but by luck it was almost empty. Risotto was great and pancakes even better.

We booked a table here early at friday eve 6 p.m. This is a very small and cozy place with excellent food and friendly service. We had the scallops and waffle for starters and cod fillet for main course, flushed down with a bottle of alsatian white. The food was just delicious. Highly recommendable.

I love this place and would like to visit more often than I do. Wines and cocktails are excellent. Food is unfortunately either too salty or too spicy. No other flavors, no herbs, no pepper, nothing. Salad has no other flavor except rinsing water and salt from fish. Have to stop visiting before I get a stroke...

I am from Texas but the pork cheek with grits at Penny’s was the best meal I have ever had and for only 10€. Service was friendly and attentive (which appears to be rare in Finland) and the atmosphere was lovely. Can not recommend enough, absolutely amazing meal.

Even thought it was quite busy late lunch, we got friendly service with a professional touch. The restaurant is small but cosy. We do not mind to be seated next to other customers, just focus on your friends and good food. Average Helsinki prices and excellent Mimosa to start your day ; Nice deco! Need to test the restaurant during the evening.
