Red Lion - Hemel Hempstead

Beautiful pub/restaurant, very impressed from the outside area, much comfortable sitting, large rattan sofas and chairs, perfect for this weather x we had a taste of the bar menu that was delicious, loved the halloumi fries x there was a bbq aswell, the beautiful aswell like everything else melting, much variety for whatever she was fucked it would be a frying time, easy walking

My first visit to the red lion, with my daughter who visited many paintings, and I loved it. gentle atmosphere, big fire, friendly staff and my breakfast was delicious. would recommend and cannot wait to visit again.

I was very disappointed with my experience. The bartender on Sunday seemed to have very little understanding. I ordered gambas pil pil, clearly stating that it was my main meal, but he mistakenly brought me a small starter instead. I explained in detail what I wanted, as gambas pil pil is not something you often see on menus in the UK. However, my excitement quickly faded when I received a tiny brown plate with just three shrimp, each no longer than 1.5 cm, served cold with a few scattered tomatoes. It was truly underwhelming, and I can't see myself returning—definitely not worth the chef's time.

The service and food here are consistently excellent. We always look forward to dining here, even though it can be a bit pricey—but the experience is worth it when everything is just right. The waitstaff genuinely remember regular customers, which adds a nice personal touch. Plus, there’s plenty of parking available and a spacious outdoor area to enjoy.

Can't recommend The Red Lion enough. Food is always perfect and service is great, always made to feel welcome all of the staff are very friendly.
