We took two friends from Victoria to show them the highlights of the Swan Valley and visited the iconic Margaret River Chocolate Factory, The Vines, The House of Honey (a must visit), The Nougat Place and other highlights with one being lunch at Chester's.After the ladies enjoyed a wine tasting session we settled down to lunch, choosing to sit in the outside alfresco area. As on previous occasions, the service was slick, informative and extremely professional and the food was very enjoyable. One thing we did notice was the wait staff were much more formal and not as relaxed as we remember. We first thought that it must have changed hands, however, we were assured that it had not.Putting that aside we had a great afternoon and look forward to again enjoying at meal at Chester's.
Had bought a groupon voucher for Chesters which was to be used 19th May. Have visited this restaurant numerous of times. Was looking forward to the new owners menu. Received a phone call three days before my booking to be told that the restaurant has closed and I was to contact groupon ! Now groupon are giving me a hard time. OMG Owner couldn't wait to stay open one week to honour vouchers and have the reputation of Chesters stand high. Consumer affairs should be called in to straighten out both parties. Never will return to Chesters, never. Will also let all know of such bad business affairs.
Went to Chesters with my husband and parents today. Had never been before and looking forward to this as recommended by friends. Josh in the cellar door is a true delight and one of the best tastings we have done because of him.Bit of a shame to be let down by the restaurant after such a great experience. We were seated and given water and told menus coming but 20 minutes later had to ask for the menus because we didn't have them still. The entrees and mains came out a good distance apart and were extremely tasty, no one was disappointed. When we had finished mains though, we all decided we wanted another bottle of wine and would order the trio of cheese for dessert. After waiting for 30 minutes of unsuccessfully getting a waiters eye, we decided to go home for a wine and cheese instead, our mains plates were still on the table uncleared when we got up to pay. For $292 for a bottle of wine, 4 entrees and 4 mains, we were happy to pay another $70 on wine and cheese but the lack of plate clearing or attention really changed our minds unfortunately
We just had lunch at Chesters today and we couldn't recommend it more highly. We were welcomed by a couple of staff members on our way in and given a lovely table outside. The manager was really excellent but all staff members were extremely friendly and efficient, genuinely wanting us to enjoy our lunch. I think you would be hard pressed to get better attention anywhere in the world, so it's nice to have it in our own backyard. The food was beautiful. The risotto was probably the best I've had and my husband's prawn pasta was so good-massive prawns! Then came the sticky date pudding-keep room for this! It is a HUGE serving and oh so good with just the right amount of ice-cream and sauce. We'll definitely be back and thanks to the staff for making our afternoon so lovely.
