Café Extrablatt Herford

Excellent food!

Café Extrablatt is located on Herford’s Alter Markt. It’s part of a chain of restaurants but this is the only one I have visited myself. I found the service generally good and efficient. However, I was not so enamoured with the food. I had their cheese and bacon burger and French fries. The burger I have to say was ok but no more than that and not the best I have had in Herford. It seemed a bit thrown together and the burger itself reminded me of those one might purchase from a supermarket freezer cabinmate. The cheese which I am guessing was Cheder was not melted and was somewhat crumbly however that said it was passable. The biggest disappointment for me was the French fires which were terrible. Now maybe they had an off day, but I have heard from others they were not happy about them either and even complained. My issue with them was they tasted how I would imagine cardboard would taste and they got worse as they cooled. My drink was fine. Since Herford has plenty of choice for restaurants, I doubt I will return to eat there but if I heard they had drastically improved I might be open to give them a second chance.

Well suited place. Lot of choice, dishes, soups (goulash soup very tasty),snacks, cocktails, drinks. Scrambled eggs really good, served with bacon and salad and fresh bread. Interesting design, specious inside, second floor with big windows, bit narrow outside. Reasonable prices. I visited this place every day during my stay in the city. All of waiters speak English and they are very friendly. Moreover, girls working there are really good looking.
