Visiting Dassiesfontein is always a memorable experience. Great for a family weekend breakfast or just a stop for coffee. Breathtaking views outside while inside a cozy farm style dining area awaits with pottery, artwork, wine and more on offer. Maybe give their classic pies a try as you head for the road. A stop well worth it when in the Caledon area or maybe plan an early morning drive to Dassiesfontein.
Lovely place full of bits and bobs. Everything from braai meat to home decor to baskets. This place has a bit of everything. It also has a little restaurant. We only had drinks but the food looked decent from what we saw. Was a bit understaffed and got super busy around lunch. Love the donkeys and the large table and chairs. Interesting attraction and the donkeys are super friendly and loving.
Dassiesfontein is not as it once was. Most of the items for sale are from China, India, and elsewhere in Asia. If you want quality South African-made items at good prices, go to your local hospice stores and second hand stores. I had a ginger beer, but I did not believe that it was homemade.
Old world general store filled with all sorts of treasure. Afrikaans inspired restaurant or eating house located inside the store. Food is farm style with extra large portion of food dishes like sweet pumpkin, pot bread with apricot jam or beef, pork and lamb meats. Sugar coffee and chuckney stews drenched in thick sauce. Once in a lifetime experience
