Mayuri Indian - Herndon

This is the best Indian buffet restaurant I've been to. I absolutely loved the dosa, and the idli is the softest I've ever had. Make sure to visit around 1 PM for the best experience—you won't regret it. Their mutton curry is my personal favorite. We also ordered takeout and tried the Chicken Manchurian (good), Mayuri special chicken (not great), Chicken Lollipop (amazing), and Chicken Biryani (just okay).

I ordered a family pack of special biryani, and it was quite disappointing. The biryani tasted like plain rice with dry chicken and lacked any flavor. The Chettinad Chicken appeared as if it had been submerged in colored water, and I noticed the same chicken in the biryani in one of the containers. The raitha was unappetizingly sticky, like glue. The only highlights of the meal were the dessert and the garlic naan, which came with the family pack.

I give this restaurant 4 stars because the food is exceptionally well-prepared and delicious! However, I deducted a star due to the limited menu selection compared to before COVID. Additionally, the buffet price has increased by 25% to $15.99. I also had to request bread, and it took 45 minutes for the tandoori chicken to be added to the buffet (I believe another customer had to inquire about it).

This is my all time favorite restaurant for Indian food. I've never eaten in the restaurant but have ordered take-out and delivery many times. Everything has always been delicious and exactly what I asked for. They even gave me free samosas one time (either in error or as a gift, I don't know). The malai kofta and chili garlic potato are a 12/10 and you have to get a side of raita to cover everything in. Highly recommend this place!
