Sure enough, this is one of the last formal places receiving cash only payments, but not too much cash needed with the prices. I had a bit of an issue with my food: I ordered a "tampiqueña" (steak with some sort of sampler - quesadilla, flauta and enchilada), for some reason the cheese on my quesadilla would not melt. I requested more coking for it to melt. The waitress came back after a little while saying it will not melt, because it was not a good brand of cheese - perhaps a recent change. So, she offers something else, like another enchilada, flauta, fried taco, etc.. They served a fried taco with no extra charge. Mexican business travelers: you will charged with the sales tax when asking for an invoice. The invoice takes a while to be issued. At the end, I paid roughly 100 pesos for a meal that could cost at least twice as much at any other formal restaurant in the area.
I've been here a number of times. Everything that I have ordered has been anywhere from solid to fantastic. The bistec Mexicana is a favorite. This is a basic diner style restaurants that is usually gringo-free and filled with locals and their families. If you want to walk a few blocks from the seediness of the border and enter "real" Nogales, La Posada is an excellent choice.
Very tasty authentic food, the service was really nice and fast. Its a nice place to take the family!
"¿Tendrán pavo mañana? ¿Cuánto costará? Me gustaría ir con mi familia. ¿Es necesario hacer reserva?"
Un restaurante local favorito en Ambos Nogales con comida maravillosa.
