The staff lovely, even though they were short staffed and busy. It took a little while to be seated even though there was empty tables. The food choices were good for vegans, they had soup, a pasty, vegan cheese sandwich or toasted panini, etc. We had a cheese toasty and a pasty which were lovely and just what we needed after our walk. There is a huge car park nearby where walkers park to walk up to the wall. You have to pay but it’s at a reasonable price.
Pleasant surprise to see vegan options on the café 's lunch menu. Potato and leak soup served with bread, and Keralan cauliflower curry filled pasty. Not a lot of items on the menu but it 's a cafe not a restaurant. Friendly staff and good prices.
If you visit Hadrian's Wall, this is a stop that you must make. We have called in many times. Just inside the entrance, there is an information desk where friendly staff give lots of useful advice. There are plenty of other displays to look at, as well as a good-sized shop with plenty of lovely gifts. But, in my opinion, the best part is the cafe. It has good food and a fabulous view of the wall. The car park is large and you pay for the parking on exit. From The Sill, it is a short walk to an interesting, very photogenic part of Hadrian's Wall. Usually. The beautiful tree at the nearby Sycamore Gap is no more (Robin Hood's tree), and the path across from The Sill is currently closed for maintenance. There is a diversion very close by, but it was very muddy when we went a week ago, and despite walking boots, I ended up with very wet feet. But it didn't matter because we finished by visiting The Sill's cafe again!
Great place to stop along The Wall. A place out of the rain. However, if they are short staffed, they will not heat up their savory items, which really need heating up. Otherwise, their savory items are gelatinous.
Was very interesting and useful. Thinks to learn for young and old would recommend to anyone who love the land and animals around them and care for the investment and what we do to take care of it. The sand pit was cool,I want one.
