Checcos Tavern - Hibbing

Being from Texas I live for good Mexican food or TexMex. The first sign of good food is salsa. Their salsa is one of the best I’ve had. It’s not your normal tomato paste with some random veggies in it. It’s actual salsa that will leave your taste buds craving more. The Bistec is amazing and the Mocajete Bowl for two is enough to feed more than two. It’s so full of flavor and literally one of my most favorite meals I’ve had. Service is excellent and these people actually care about what they are feeding you. I didn’t expect it this far north. You have to give them a chance!

My beans had flakey stuff that was hardened. My tacos were undercooked. The staff didn’t care

Have done take out and eat-in, every selection has been fantastic. Good sized portions, amazingly flavorful. Highly recommended.

The service was pretty slow and inattentive. We waited over ten minutes for someone to take our drink order. The server checked on us once during our meal. However the food was delicious! One of the most flavorful Chile rellenos I have had at a restaurant. The beans were delicious and the carnitas were amazing. I'll be back!
