Clubhouse Orchid - Highland

Terrible takeout experience. We didn't dine in, so we can only review the food we received. My husband ordered fish, chips and mushy peas, while I ordered a Burns burger with peppercorn sauce. Unfortunately, my husband's food was cold and missing the peas. My chips were also cold, but the burger was warm. After a few bites, I discovered there was no sauce on my burger. The haggis and cheese burger was dry and unappetizing. Ultimately, we had to throw both meals away.

My family and I went to this restaurant a few weeks ago at around 5:00 pm on a Saturday. It was moderately busy, but not crowded. The menu was limited, and we were informed of several items that were not available. Despite this, we were able to find something to eat and were generally satisfied with our food. However, the main issue was the long wait times for everything. It took 35 minutes for us to receive our drinks after ordering, and the food came relatively quickly after that. When we tried to order ice cream for the kids, we waited 45 minutes without any success. After unsuccessfully trying to get someone's attention, I went to the bar to inquire. It took another 10 minutes for the waiter to inform us that the flavored ice cream we ordered was unavailable. After waiting 55 minutes to be told that our order couldn't be fulfilled, we gave up on the ice cream and asked for the bill, which then took another 20 minutes. The food on the limited menu was fine, but be prepared to wait a significant amount of time for your meal.

We took my parents to this restaurant, while we were up visiting. It was the biggest mistake, but you live and learn. We asked what soup was on to be told there was no soup available, as one of the party would only have the soup, we didn’t order starters. We ordered our mains and waited and waited, while waiting the table beside us, who came in after us, ordered their meals. We watched their starters come out, low and behold one of them received soup. I shouted the waitress over and said we were told there was no soup, she said 5 minutes ago the 2nd chef wasn’t in. So I can only assume the 1st chef can’t hear soup up, because you certainly can’t make a pot in 5 minutes. Mains arrived, they were okay, I don’t suppose you can go wrong with frozen chips. We then ordered desserts, 4 sticky toffee puddings (there were only 3 choices), 5 minutes later the waitress comes through, we only have 1 portion of sticky toffee pudding left. It’s an absolute joke of a restaurant, we were in at 6.30, so one of the first tables of the evening. I hate to think how the rest got on. Just take my advice if you like decent food and avoid at all costs.

From reception to leaving, the welcome was great, the lady who welcomed us and on the bar was brilliant, the hotel is very clean, fresh and comfortable, I’d go again, easily
