Coco's Bakery - Highland Park

When I went to eat, it was pretty crowded, but my party still came fast. it took a while to get our food, but it was full so I had nothing to do with it. the quality of eating was good and I want to go back to taste the cake.

I've lived in Highland Park long enough to remember this place being called Carrows and the experience being okay for the most part.Fast forward years later, Coco's came to be and although my experience here has varied, until recently the restaurant needs a lot of help in various areas.The Service: This is either a hit or a miss for most people. Depending on the day of the week, you'll get services where they are constantly checking in on you, fill your water up without asking and your food order will come exactly as it should.I've had the misfortune of coming in twice so far in this new 2022 year and both times the waitress was lacking in service, she was not attentive, got a few things wrong with our order and when I complained that there was a hair in my Coco's Turkey Sandwich platter, she didn't bother to apologize or offer a discount for my meal. Not only that but it took her another 15-20 mins to get the sandwich back to me.The Food: The food, the same as the service, can be a hit or miss. I'm not claiming that Coco's NEEDS to be top quality food but at the very least they can show (the cooks at least) that there's some sort of care for the food.Both times I've been here in the year the bread for my turkey sandwich was burnt, I found a hair in my platter, bread for a burger was burned as well and the amount of fries that we were given was laughably the equivalent of a kid's meal at McDonalds.Going back to the subject of the found hair, it's not a good look when the waitress openly (loudly) expresses that there was a hair in it, the cook then asked if it really was his hair, almost as if doubting what the claim was.Management : The manager on-hand is okay for the most part. However, just like other reviewers on here have pointed out, the managers stay out of the way and if you have a complaint or anything like that and the manager isn't around, good luck trying to find someone who will listen to you rant about the issue.

Very busy and not many waitresses. Took a long time to get anything. Came for the Harvest pie which was delicious!

Service was AMAZING!! It was a busy day but we got seated fast and served fast.Food was hot and delicious. I will definitely be returning again.

I LOVE the banana cream pie, all their pies are amazing and they sprinkle chopped walnuts on top of a lot of them, I personally hadn't seen that on pie's before but it's my favorite part about their pie selections ?
