Mod Mex Kitchen - Highland

We decided to drive from Holly (we were already in the White Lake area at the time) after reading the positive reviews on Yelp and seeing that they listed gluten-free options on their website (three of us are gluten-free). We don't regret it. The only disappointment is that it is more of a place than a sit-down restaurant, but they have several small tables with chairs and fortunately we were able to snore a few so that we could eat there while the food was hot. The owner was there and helped us with menu choices and recommendations that were extremely helpful. My husband ordered a bowl of beef and loved her. My oldest son (not gluten-free from us) ordered a bbq korean burrito (on a flour tortilla) with beef and loved it. My youngest ordered chicken quesadillas (on Maistortillas) and you suspected it loved her. I ordered Nachos (minus the beans) with Carnitas (Pork) and added Guacamole. Although the nacho chips are fried in a common frit (with panko bread, so there is a cross-contamination problem if you are highly gluten-sensitive) they were fantastic (light, crispy and just the right amount of salt). The Carnita was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside as it should be. The staff was warm and friendly. The food was hot and delicious. Definitely a winning combination. We need more places like these around and we'll probably do the ride again or get past when in the area.

I just made my second visit to Chino Loco (the first was great). This time I ordered the Korean BBQ bowl and the Loco egg roll. Both were amazing and fresh. You make the egg roll up from scratch when you order it. Made with all fresh ingredients, I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Really a hidden jewel.

Absolutely phenomenal. They are the epitome of culinary art with phenomenal taste and fusion of kitchens.

I've been waiting ages to try the food here, after hearing awesome things. Holy moly! Best guacamole I've had in ages. Everything we ordered was fresh and insanely delicious. Can't wait to try something else on the menu!
