Have you ever tried Hilmar Cheese? Chances are, the answer is yes. You can purchase Hilmar-branded cheese directly from their factory in Central California, but most of their cheese is sold under various private, regional, and national labels. You may spot it on pizzas or in other dishes at restaurants, and it's often repackaged and available by the pound in grocery stores.

Fantastic deli! I really enjoy the food here. I highly recommend trying the Cheddar Cheese Chowder—it's amazing!

Beyond the gift shop and ice cream section, the deli is where the real magic happens. The sandwiches are hearty and made with top-notch ingredients, and the bread tastes freshly baked. My friend ordered one of the deli sandwiches, which looked delicious, but since it was a Friday during Lent, I had to skip the meat. Instead, I opted for a cheese platter, which was fantastic. However, I was dismayed to find a mess of potatoes, cheese scraps, and bacon on the ground—they must have been leftovers from someone else. To add a bit of heat to my dish, I drizzled on some hot sauce, which was perfect for the cool morning. After that, I enjoyed a generous caprese salad, which was absolutely delightful. Of course, the cheese is the star here. I'm planning to head back to LA this weekend to try more of their soup and to enjoy a slice of cheesecake recommended by a fellow diner. Who knows, I might even grab a sandwich for the road!

My husband and I enjoyed a day here before pandemic. The cheese-chowder was amazing, and while the café was busy, it was not crowded. The staff was wonderful and very professional. All in all, it was a great place to visit.
