We recently spent two weeks in Iceland seeing all the beautiful sights and tasting a variety of Icelandic dishes. The absolute best soup and bread we had on our trip was at Jon Riki. The lamb soup and fish soup were both very tasty and full of meat/fish. In my opinion, if you are wanting soup, this is the best!
I loved the homemade lamb stew at this restaurant, which was one of two options available, the other being a vegetable stew. It was hearty, healthy, and authentic Icelandic cuisine.
We had made a reservation at this restaurant as we were staying in the area. They were expecting us and had a table set aside. The place is cozy and quirky with interesting musical instruments set up in the corner. Staff was friendly and laid back. There aren't a lot of options on the menu we all had the shepherds pie and enjoyed it very much. My husband also had a beer that was brewed there. He also liked it. Recommend for a home cooked meal in a homey environment.
I choose this restaurant because it was the closest to my hotel. That means 10 min driving :D The place is nice. Prices are expensive like you expect in iceland. There arent much of the menu but enough to choose from. I have fish stew and wife have shepherds pie. we also have dessert and chocolate tart and mouuse were even better together.
