The concept for this place is great! A guest chef visits from one of WP's worldwide restaurants and creates something unique and amazing for the week. I would say it's definitely one of my top five restaurants in Los Angeles. It focuses on a guest experience that centers around food, drinks, and people. The food was amazing and the experience was equally amazing. Every item on the menu was delicious but that pineapple mango dessert... I want more. I've been to other pricier restaurants where the food doesn't match the experience or vice versa but that's not the case here. You'll have a great intimate experience with your fellow guests, hosts and chefs. Definitely go here! I'll be back.
HERE 'S HOW IT WORKS: Five rogue chefs, sick of playing by the rules for years at fancy-pants restaurants, are flown in from various cities. They 're given an arsenal of knives, blow torches, and centrifuges. They 're told they can do whatever they want as long as they get it done. You and a handful of other diners are led to a kitchen counter and get to watch, joking and sipping fruity cocktails, oblivious that those 5 rogue operatives are about to f you up. I 'M A HEARTLESS MONSTER: As a plate of quail was placed before each one of us, Chef Jenny told us a true story. These quails were the offsprings of a couple of unwanted birds that a farmer had rescued from a county fair 10 years ago. He kept them to himself, nurtured and bred them. These heritage quail were so special to the bird-farmer that it was not until this year that he finally released them for sale. I 'm sure Chef Jenny meant this as a heartwarming story, a reminder to give thanks. But to me, it felt like a mom explaining to the kids that she had just cooked the neighbor 's pet bird. Perhaps more disconcerting was that I shed no tears but smiled as I chewed. AND THE WINNER IS... Every dish was a new creation, never before tasted by the public. Crazy s like eclair stuffed with uni, or salmon paired with foie gras. Understandably for an experimental kitchen, some arrows strayed. However, many were so spectacular they brought me to my knees. Dish after dish, I shared with my sweetie my insightful critiques of the textures, compositions, and flavors. I went on to tell her my epiphany: this experience is so much fun because it made me feel like I 'm a judge on Top Chef. My sweetie agreed with my Top Chef analogy, but said the only difference is that no one in the room gave a s about my food analysis.
My family and I had a delicious 20 course meal here at Wolfgang Puck's Test Kitchen! The chefs here get flexibility to exercise their creativity and come up with new dishes weekly! Everything was so delicious and it was truly a one of a kind experience! See photos of everything we ate along with the menu!
