Blue Moose Bbq - Homer

Smoky, tender, and delicious BBQ accompanied by a generous dose of warmth and friendliness. As someone who enjoys BBQ from various places, I must say that BlackJaxx BBQ stands out with some truly excellent offerings. The three-meat plate featuring ribs, brisket, and pulled pork was quite satisfying. The beans and coleslaw were also really good. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Homer!

I started with the ribs, and honestly, I regret that choice because they were the standout of the meal—simply the best. They were perfectly cooked and fell right off the bone. Even the fat was incredibly tender, which I’ve never experienced before. Next, I tried the sausage. While it was good, it didn’t quite make my all-time top five. I usually prefer a Cajun flavor in my sausage, but even so, you won’t find anything like this quality in Alaska. I then had the dinner roll, which I’ll admit I would have liked to swap for cornbread, since I’m a fan. But the roll was still quite good. Then came the brisket, which ranks in my top ten. The smokiness was exceptional, and the flavor was something you just can’t find up here. Lastly, the beans, which were mixed with either brisket or pork, had fantastic smoke flavor. I was glad I chose the double portion because they were definitely worth it. I know I’ll be returning many more times, and honestly, the price feels a bit low for the quality of food. From my experience back in Texas, it’s definitely worth every penny. Next time, I plan to try the pork, bologna, and chicken, but I think I’ll mostly likely go for a half rack of ribs again.

If I could, I would give this food truck six stars! The owner is incredibly friendly, and the BBQ is the best we've ever tasted. We've been to many places and tried various restaurants, but this one truly stands out as the best of all. It's made it tough for us to enjoy BBQ anywhere else! Judy is the sweetest woman, doing an amazing job cooking, answering phones, and serving customers. We will definitely return every time we visit Alaska.

I visited the Homer location for the first time, and it was just as great as the other one. It's conveniently located near the Homer Ice Rink, making it one of the few places on the spit that offers actual parking. They do have a few outdoor tables, but it was too windy for us to sit outside. Instead, we ended up enjoying our meal at the local brewery, which made for a perfect pairing.

Judy was amazing! The brisket was outstanding, and I really appreciate the convenience of the drive-up window. It's a fantastic spot!
