Contribuisci feedbackThis was my first visit to the restaurant and I was eager to try it after it was recommended by my friends. The food was mediocre at best. The server suggested we order the pineapple to go with one of our dishes, but it ended up being $16 when the bill came. The food was overpriced and the service was terrible. When we tried to engage in conversation with our server about her accent, she rudely ignored us and eventually said she wouldn't discuss it. It was a very strange experience and definitely not worth the price. We will not be returning.
Nice feel, cool atmosphere, and the food that actually made it to the table was pretty good. My complaint is that timeliness and honesty was lacking. There was clearly an issue in the back but everyone just pretended nothing was wrong. I understand everyone is understaffed but at a certain point you should tell people what's up or maybe stop taking orders. Our experience and frustration was evidently shared by everyone else dining in and coming for take out. In summary: First dish was brought out 45 minutes after we arrived. Over the next 45 minutes, we had a few more plates come out. The side rice for the curry and the palata never made it out. Mysteriously the salad took over an hour. After having been there for nearly two hours, we asked for the check and they were kind enough to remove the items that never made it to the table.
This place is confusing. The food is really good but the kitchen apparently can't keep up with 2 tables, not to mention the steady stream of similarly bewildered people there for takeout. We arrived and were seated at 515pm, the first dish came around 615 and an entire meal and side for another never came after 1h 30m, we cancelled the missing items.
Dagon was a lovely experience, we were sure to make reservations as seating is limited and this is a popular place. Parking was available on the street with no problem either. Our waitress and hostess same checked our vax cards and IDs and got us seated she was attentive and got us water and drinks right away. We had plenty of time to look over the menu and make our decisions but unfortunately this is where things started to slow down a bit. She still did a great job but she was the only one working which seems to be the case in a lot of places these days. No biggie we weren't pressed for time but some small irritations with getting some of the items. The food was all cooked and prepared very well and tasted great, the portions we great too. I'm no Burmese expert but everything seemed very authentic and we will definitely go back again and would highly recommend Dagon to friends and family.
I'm not sure if this restaurant serves all Burmese cuisine, but if it does, it's now my favorite kitchen. My husband and I are vegetarians and every dish was fantastic. The hostess was very kind and welcoming, seating us even though the table was soon reserved. If I lived closer, I would definitely become a regular customer. The prices are also very reasonable considering the high quality of the food.
