They also offer more than just northern Chinese dishes. If you're concerned about the slow service that some reviewers have complained about, remember that this is a small family-owned business that is constantly busy. Don't expect fast food service. If you're looking for something quick and generic, go somewhere else. I will definitely be returning before I leave for the mainland.
During my first visit to this restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food I ordered. The Mongolian beef had the same perfect flavor I remembered from my childhood, and the orange chicken was also spectacular. The hot and sour soup was very tasty too. However, during my second visit, the meals tasted very different, especially the orange chicken which seemed to have been prepared by a different chef who used too much Chinese 5 spice. It reminded me of street food in Taipei. I wondered if this was a mistake since we were speaking Mandarin when we ordered. On my third visit, the food tasted more similar to the first time, but the execution was off. The orange chicken had too much sour vinegar taste, the Mongolian beef was lacking in flavor and heat, and the hot and sour soup was more bitter than hot. I feel the need to convey this message to the owners of the restaurant. The last two orders, which were during the weekend, were disappointing and inconsistent. If the restaurant cannot maintain better quality control with their chefs, then they should consider closing. I will not be returning as I had to throw away the food and felt like we wasted a significant amount of money on the last two orders.
This restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. It is a delightful hidden gem! The food is absolutely delicious. We tried the bean curd with vegetables and the fish filet with green onions and ginger. Both dishes were mild and delicate. We also had the bread pockets filled with minced pork, which was equally tasty. The portions were generous and we had plenty of leftovers for two people. I highly recommend the bean curd with vegetables. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant, even though it is only open from 4-9:30 pm.
We had their takeout a couple of times in the past as we enjoyed the food. I like the fact they don?t use MSG This time we tried few new dish. Overall good but the noodle in the soup dish was very bland. Shao ping bao with sesame bun looked great butthe bun was very thick and heavy, very runny Mapoh tofu...all unexpected taste. Not sure if that is their style. We will haveto stick to the ones we know that we like next time we order their food.
Super cozy family owned restaurant. I haven’t ventured out in Honolulu much for Chinese food, but I’m so stoked I found this place. It really hits a spot when I’m craving Chinese/Taiwanese food. I’m definitely coming back… we have a ressie next week already ?
