We usually go to the Waikiki location, but decided to try the one in downtown instead. Food is always top notch. With a different location, they are consistent when it comes to their food. They were making more shrimp tempura when we got there so I got excited for the freshly made tempura. Since we've never been at this location we did get a bit lost because GPS said we were already there when we passed the Walmart. We found street parking and walked about 2 blocks. Didn't know there was a 1 hr parking validation in the garage. Overall, food is delicious and consistent with the Waikiki location. Staff is on point and friendly. Check it out when in downtown area for your Marugame fix.
Absolute must. It will be your gold standard for comparison in the future.
Good place to sit down and enjoy a bowl of udon that you can pick and choose the toppings that you want. Lots of different options for those with food sensitivities and dietary restrictions. Basically you go up to the counter to choose your broth and noodle amount with some extra toppings like green onion and bonito flakes, move down the line to choose what fried toppings you want to add on top, and move on to the payment counter to pay for your food. They also have a water dispenser that you can go and get your own refills, as well as some spices and ginger available for some additional flavor to your bowl of udon. The quality is also really good. The noodles are freshly prepared and boiled right where you pick up your bowl before getting to the toppings line. The broth choices are pretty plentiful as well, so you can have something different each week for about 2 months with some varieties being doubled with a cold broth option. Overall a decent place to stop by and get some udon the way you want it.
I like this location so much better than the one in Waikiki. Never a long line.
