We really enjoyed this establishment. The aquachiles are no joke! Very spicy! In general, we liked the authentic menu and the ambiance. Would definitely come back again!
TL;DR 10/10 Food 10/10 Service I had the chicharrón, and it was absolutely fantastic. The side cactus salad was a bit salty, but I enjoyed it too. The churro bread pudding was amazing as well. Our server/bartender/all the roles was super friendly and helped us decide what to get when we asked. Food was out super quick as well, though we came late when there weren’t many people.
Horrible service. They were half open and the place was empty. We went with a few families together with smallKids age 3-6yo. Basically told us they don 't have anything. Then when one of our kiddos went to look at a decoration on the wall the owner who as sitting in the back came walking up to the kiddo and told him to go back to his parents. Then I could hear the owner say, you believe this ****! We left, will never go back.
Food was so amazing I didn't even take pictures or come up for air. Ever since going to TX it really changed my palette for Mexican food, and nothing could compare until Tlaxcalli. Coming back home, I realized Hawaii's representation of Mexican cuisine is sad and a far cry from authenticity. But this place.....chef's kiss. The only place on the island you can get tacos dorados and lamb barbacoa. We also had the birria, and the churro bread pudding. Everything was so delicious and perfect my mouth is salivating just thinking about it. Like a heathen, I could have drank the consommé, pork fat and all! Will, our server/waiter/all of the above was also really awesome!
