I requested the wings to be double dipped, which are usually served dry, but I asked them to toss them in hot sauce instead, and they were fantastic. It took about 12 minutes for our party of four to be served. This was the best experience I've had at Jefferson's yet!
Fantastic daily specials! The specials are not only delicious but offer great value as well. It’s a really fun atmosphere, too!
Some of my favorite wings! I've visited the original location in Jacksonville, and I must say the Hoover branch doesn't quite live up to the ambiance and service. The double-dipped wings with hot sauce on the side are definitely the way to go, and they're worth trying for any wing lover. However, if prices continue to rise along with the decline in service, I might have to limit my visits to Jefferson's and consider other locations or the original instead. I tried to take my son there for dinner after a football game on a Monday or Tuesday around 8 p.m., but the disapproving looks we received as we entered the dining area spoke volumes. It was a slow night, and they were closing early, so we left. It seems I'm not the only one who has noticed the poor service!
My daughter likes to explore different items on the menu, while my husband and I stick to the wings. The wings are always large and perfectly cooked (this may sound a bit unusual, but after encountering tiny, poorly cooked wings at other places, you really start to appreciate a well-prepared wing). In other wing joints, I've noticed that prices keep rising while wing sizes keep shrinking. Thankfully, that's not the case here. The menu states that you can split a large order into two flavors, but it doesn't mention that you can also mix flavors. Let me tell you, mixing opens up a whole new world of flavor possibilities. Once, while dining at a restaurant in Atlanta, I had some hot-lemon-yaki wings that were amazing. Since I don't live in Atlanta, getting those wings is tough. However, at Jefferson's, you can easily request a mix of lemon-pepper and hot-yaki. You won't regret it. It's spicy, tangy, and simply perfect. We've also tried the double-dipped wings, which are a delightful treat in their own right. They fry the wings, dip them in hot sauce (but don’t worry, it’s not overly spicy), and then fry them again before dipping them into your sauce of choice. Delicious! For dessert, you must try a fried pie. These are like the warm, fresh fried pies your grandmother used to make. And be sure to order it with ice cream. They’re made to order and come in various flavors (chocolate pecan—oh my!). The ice cream complements it perfectly. Usually, we share one, as we’re too full from the wings.
This restaurant is a fantastic alternative to the large chain wing spots. The service was attentive, and I enjoyed both the Asian and jerk wings, which were quite delicious. The fried pickles were outstanding as well. They also offered a great beer selection, featuring some nice local options.
