The Blue Owl Sweet Shoppe

What a fantastic little bakery! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We initially stopped by for the gooey butter cake, but we ended up trying some donuts too, and they were delightful. Blue Owl is famous for their pies, so I’ll definitely have to come back to try those!

We usually love this place, but we visited today and ordered a fried pie and two apple fritters. Unfortunately, the apple fritters were so hard that we couldn't eat them. Additionally, I saw a staff member in the back rolling out pie dough who coughed directly into the food she was preparing, which was quite concerning, especially with the risks of COVID. This was really disappointing.

You absolutely must visit this bakery in House Springs, MO. It has the best carrot cake I’ve ever tasted. The turtles are a must-try, along with the cream cheese cheesecake. Everything here is incredibly delicious and melts in your mouth. I can see why Oprah gives high praise to The Blue Owl!

We don?t want this review to be one-sided so we will start by saying that the flavor and taste of the desserts Blue Owl bakery made for our wedding were amazing. Everyone was fighting over the shooters and the cookies. However, the overall experience wehad with them was less than great. First of all, even after communicating with them on the venues policies, their cake deliverycrew arrived way too early and had to wait in the car for the venue to let them inside to set up. Our cake was also smashed onthe bottom layer somehow. We didn?t notice until the cake-cutting. See the picture for details. We didn?t care too much becauseoverall we liked the presentation of the desserts. But when something like this happens, the least Blue Owl could have done wasletting us know that it happened. We can?t say for sure if it was the delivery crew who was at fault for this as we weren?twatching when they set up the cake. But knowing the venue and the photographers, we think likely this was the mistake of thedelivery crew.

I contacted four different bakeries, and Blue Owl offered me the best price for a custom "Stranger Things" birthday cake for my 9-year-old. Despite the short notice, they were still able to create exactly what I wanted. I am very pleased with how the cake turned out and the price I paid. I will definitely order future cakes from here!
