Caribbean Hotpot Grill - Houston

About two years ago, a coworker of mine brought in some Curry Chicken, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I ordered the large portion of Curry Chicken, which came with cabbage and rice. The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy. The rice was excellent, reminiscent of the rice and beans served in El Salvador. The spice level was just right—not overly spicy, but enough to have some kick. I’ll definitely order it again, and I encourage you all to give it a try for yourselves!

The jersey chicken was quite good—perfectly spicy without being overwhelming. It struck a fantastic balance between flavor and heat, just as jerk chicken should taste. If you're on the Northside and looking for authentic Jamaican cuisine, this is a great stop. We also tried oxtails, curry shrimp, jerk wings, chicken and beef patties, and curry chicken, all of which were delicious. I have no complaints about any of the dishes. The portions were generous and tasted just right. I’m definitely looking forward to coming back for more. I didn’t give it a full five stars because the ordering process was a bit disorganized, and our patties were initially forgotten, requiring us to request them. Nonetheless, we will certainly return for another visit.

I'm still trying to cool down my mouth from the Jerk chicken. That was the most flavorful pain I've ever experienced!

First time ordering and was impressed by the portion size. The Jerk chicken however was extremely spicy, almost inedible to me! I’m someone that likes spicy food. I don’t know if they put an extra spicy sause but it was literally all I was tasting. The rice and peas were cooked well, but had that same sause on it which completely ruined it in my opinion. In my online order I asked for gravy on the rice and I think they put the spicy sauce as “gravy” which is a huge disappointment. The plantin (got 1 piece) was good, nice ripe and sweet as how it should be. Cabbage was ok, not my thing could have passed on it. Overall 3 out of 5. If the spice level wasn’t so high could easily be a solid 4. I will give it another try, maybe with a different meat and see if it’s any better next time around.
