I ordered the pepper steak, while three others had oxtails, two chose fried catfish, and one opted for fried chicken. Both the pepper steak and oxtails were bland and tasted quite similar due to the same gravy. Considering the oxtails were priced at $30, we expected more flavor. The fried catfish was the highlight, and it was nice that they prepare fried foods to order. However, we had finished our meals before my cousin's fried chicken even arrived—and we had inquired about it twice! It took over 40 minutes for that dish to come out. Now, on to the sides: the mac and cheese, candied yams, and potato salad were fantastic, while the greens were disappointing. The banana pudding was also excellent. Overall, I doubt I would return. The experience did not justify the amount of money spent on the food and service.
I ordered meals that featured oxtail, cabbage, and candied yams, along with some fried fish and mac and cheese. The food was just average. The oxtails were undercooked, making them tough to chew, though they did have good flavor. The fried fish was well-prepared. The buffet and dining room staff were friendly, but there was a wait for the food. At around 1 PM, they had run out of fried chicken and fish, and we had to wait about 15 minutes for them to be restocked. Given that the dining room was busy and there was a steady stream of customers after us, it would be important for them to keep the line stocked and moving during peak hours.
The wait was long but worth it. The food was delicious!
I really enjoyed the macaroni and cheese, which wasn't baked or burnt, and the potato salad had fantastic flavor. The cornbread was soft and cake-like, which I loved. The Salisbury steak, referred to as pepper steak here, was just okay, and the rice was pretty standard. There was a generous amount of gravy, which I appreciated. I also had plenty of leftovers, including some cobbler that I saved in my fridge for later. I definitely want to try the desserts the next time I’m in town!
I go here all the time the food is good wait times usually not that long and the customer service reps give of a family vibe So I ordered thru door dash found a lash in my food tried to contact someone from the store they didn’t answer the phone
