It's easy to suggest finding another option, but Masala Wok is different; it's a hybrid restaurant that serves both Indian and Southeast Asian cuisine. The concept alone is rather unique. The food is decent enough to satisfy your cravings. While it may not be as bold as your typical Indian restaurant or as delightful as your local Thai spot, it offers a solid "good enough" experience. I particularly enjoy the Butter Chicken because it's not overpoweringly flavorful. Its mild taste pairs well with rice or naan and is the kind of flavor that doesn’t get tiresome after multiple visits. The same can be said for their Tikka Masala, which is a lovely balance of sweet and savory—light and not overly heavy. If you're in the mood for Asian cuisine, I recommend trying their Blazing Noodles. In conclusion, I suggest visiting this place but perhaps not too frequently. I don't think the downsizing aligns well with the rising prices. If you're seeking authentic Indian or Asian flavors, you may want to explore other options. That said, Masala Wok certainly has its own distinct offerings and does its own thing within its unique niche.
If you're planning to order food here, don't expect traditional Indian flavors; it leans more towards Chinese cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the Mongolian dish, the blazing noodles, the Hakka noodles, and the Schezwan rice. While the blazing noodles and Hakka noodles tasted quite similar, both were enjoyable. On the downside, I found the chicken lollipop to be too dry and lacking in flavor. The highlight of my visit was the pleasant atmosphere, which was calm and clean. Just a heads-up: you'll need to clean your own table, so be prepared for that.
Every time my wife and I dine at Masala, we find the food to be incredibly fresh and delicious. Whenever we're craving fried rice, we'll make the 60-mile round trip just to enjoy a meal there. It’s our favorite restaurant, and we believe it’s worth the journey. The staff is friendly, and they recognize us since we frequent the place often. William is our favorite server; he's always professional, polite, and considerate. I would give Masala a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. Please continue your great work and delicious food!
I ordered from UberEats last night and spent over $30 on food (which after delivery and tip to the driver of course comes out to over $50). I ordered Korma masala with lamb, which was an additional $3 (please keep this in mind for later), mango lassi, ras malai, and garlic naan. Never again. I have never, in all my years living eating this cuisine in the Middle East with my Indian Sri Lankan family friends, eaten korma so terrible. It was thin, with hardly any flavor (it wasn 't even the right flavor for korma--it tasted like one of those Japanese curry blocks? The ones you get in stores for instant curry that come in mild, medium, and hot? It tasted like that, not like freshly made korma). That $3 I spent on for lamb? I got maybe 7 pieces less than the size of my distal pinky digit in length, and about half as wide. Despite being small pieces what lamb I could find was tough, and somehow grey? Truly awful. The biggest insult was the clearly frozen mixed vegetables added to the curry . Unseasoned carrots, green beans, peas, broccoli, and cauliflower that were clearly right out of the frozen bag. I wish I was joking. $30 down the drain. The garlic naan and lassi were fine, but messing up *bread* is much harder to do than curry. Also the lassi is pre-packaged and made elsewhere by the looks of it, so the restaurant couldn 't mess it up. The Ras Malai... was also wrong. I don 't know how to describe it other than... it tasted like I put that 2000s Moon Sand you saw on TV all the time in my mouth? The texture was completely off and I cannot place my finger on why or how. Do not order from here. Please, save your money. There are plenty of other good quality Indian restaurants in Houston.
These A**holes forgot to “Microwave” the food I ordered and I asked them for paneer butter masala and told them no meat. I guess they use the same utensils for both butter paneer and butter chicken curry so they mixed both chicken and paneer and gave it to me. Not going back again.
