Nice selection of regional items, fantastic little restaurant inside, homemade tortillas on Saturdays and Sundays, and homemade tamales everyday. Their meat market has alot of variety. And employees are super nice. You can practice your Spanish.
I was eating some tacos in this location this morning and observed a lady coming out of the cooler carrying food in silver trays. Some of the Vegetables that appeared to but already cut fell on the floor. The lady just picked up the Vegetables fromthe floor and put back into the container. After a few minutes there was a big pot on the stove and just put all the Vegetablesin the pot which mind you were in an open container not covered so never saw her wash them. This place is were I but Meat fromthe Market and food from the Taqueria. I will never return here ever again. I asked to speak to a manager who I saw there butwhen I asked they said the manager was not in!
Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent prices. I go there as often as I can to pick up grocery?s and eat in their restaurant often. The best store in Houston
We went for Barbacoa this past weekend and I've pulled 4 pieces of aluminum foil from the 2 pounds we got. Ain't no telling how many pieces me and my kids ate prior. The Barbacoa in previous years has been excellent but recently has been of poor quality,it is dry and bland. I excepted this because I would add flavor to make it taste better (but I shouldn't have too) but thealuminum foil is just ridiculous! This is no better then their store on Mesa rd. Serving maggots in the pork!
Edited 9/1/20 Still my favorite taco bar and market. I shop here often and eat here several times a week. Nice, clean place with prompt, friendly service, great food, and excellent prices. They have the best verduras/fresh vegetables in the area, andthe meat market is second to none. They have some of the best food in the area in their taco bar. You can eat there or take itout. The breakfast tacos are inexpensive and delicious, as are their breakfast special plates. The selection for lunch anddinner can't be beat: tacos, caldos (soups , or platillos (plates , Everything is delicious, the servings ample, and foodwell prepared. NB: They had to take out the salsa bar for the COVID. [I wrote: There is a very well equipped salsa bar, too, with six salsas and lots of condiments. Just ask for salsa. I have been eating here for over two years, and I never get tiredof it, with the huge selection of dishes and all the excellent flavors. They serve the best pozole in the area by far, whenit's available. Always ask. I'm hoping they will re institute the Thursday Pozole Special, as it is sorely missed by thisaficionado. The ordering process can be a little intimidating, but don't sweat it. You just pay for the food at the registerbefore you order it...so go pick out what you want first, then go back to checkout and tell the clerk so she can ring it up foryou and give you a ticket. Then you take your ticket back to the taco bar and they will prepare it for you. They keep theseating area spotless, and there are plenty of paper towels, if you enjoy your food as much as I do : . Definitely give thisplace a try. Don't be intimidated by the ordering process or the fact it's a taco bar in a food store. It's really one of theundiscovered treasures in the Humble area.
