Contribuisci feedback12 of us were on an organised walk from the nearby Ferry Meadows Country Park. They'd organised a tea-room stop for lunch at this establishment. What a delight it was for us all. It's secret treasure. Unbeknown to us the place had just been taken over, the service was great, ample tea (big refills of water) and the lunches (we had various) were all delicious. You must visit but you should be book ahead too.
This restaurant is not easy to find unless you are specifically looking for it, but I highly recommend going out of your way to locate it. We went for the tearoom and the service was personalized and efficient. The food was delicious and offered great value for the money. The setting was picturesque, with a quaint yet bright and clean atmosphere. The unique touch of teddy bears scattered around added character that you don't often find elsewhere. The shop and post office were also open, and provided quick, friendly, and efficient service. A couple of points to keep in mind: the tearoom has different opening times than the post office (9:30-3:30 Mon-Sat and 9:30-12 on Sundays), and both the tearoom and shop only accept cash (you can get cash from the post office, but only when it's open). Overall, this hidden gem is worth a visit!
I met up with a friend at this restaurant while they were traveling down the A1 just after it opened. The food and hot chocolate were superb, with a great selection of cakes. The staff were absolutely lovely, providing a real escape from Peterborough and being only two minutes from the A1. There is also a great local shop and Post Office downstairs. I will definitely be visiting regularly!
My friend and I stumbled upon this charming little restaurant after taking a long walk. We were looking for refreshments and, finding the pub opposite closed, decided to give this tea room a try. We were warmly greeted and seated outside in the sun. A friendly lady took our order and brought us tasty coffee and delicious sandwiches. The service was excellent and the homemade food was amazing. It gave us the energy we needed for the walk back home. We only have good things to say about this place. It's a hidden gem that we will definitely visit again to try some of their cakes. The pub's loss was certainly our gain.
My wife, my seven year old daughter and I visited soon after the new year, and we weren't disappointed. This is a lovely little tea room, slightly hidden away above Alwalton's village stores and post office. The tea room itself is quite small, enough space for perhaps 20 people, and it is in the upper room of a delightful thatched cottage. The service was very friendly, with the lady more than happy to chat to my daughter and tell her about the teddy bears which are dotted about the tea room. The place is quaint and rustic, and a far cry from most of the other modern places to get a hot drink and a slice of cake. The food is just right, especially if you're just getting back from, or just going out for, a walk around the Nene valley, which is right on the doorstep. We had poached eggs on toast, tea and coffee, and scones with butter, jam and clotted cream, all of which arrived nice and quick and was as tasty as we had hoped. On the way out, we bought a few things from the village store, which stocks newspapers, fresh bread, and lots of other staples. In all, a perfectly pleasant place with friendly service and good simple food.
