I yelped around for other options, because sometimes even when a place is walking distance you sometimes overlook things that are right in front you. I decided to go with my gut (growling stomache) and eat here. I'm so glad I did. It's in a quiet little plaza with limited parking but it's worth it. Their lunch options are about $10 and comes with a side of vegetable tofu soup which was amazing. A small side salad and a fried wonton. If you check-in with Yelp you get an insanely large free Thai Ice Tea! I ordered the Penang Curry with chicken, medium spice level. It was pretty darn perfect. My only gripe was I needed more rice to go with my curry! The other dish was spicy eggplant. I got a taste and the sauce was also delicious. Kind waitress, clean eating area, spacious, and pleasant experience with awesome food. Don't overlook this place next time you're in the area!
Stopped by on Saturday afternoon for lunch after a family member recommended it. We heard it was under new ownership and decided to give it a try. The owner (I think her name is Mod) greeted us with a smile and made some menu recommendations since this was our first time at the restaurant. We ordered chicken panang and a spicy basil dish with shrimp. Both were very good and super tasty. We especially liked the panang as it had just the right amount of spice and flavor. I would definitely say it's better than the panang at Thai Nakorn. The owner also recommended some raspberry sauce to go with the cream cheese wontons and it was scrumptious! I'm looking forward to trying the crispy pork belly and crying tiger next time we stop in. I'm so happy we stopped in for lunch. I would highly recommend it and wish the new owners the best of luck. I hope that word gets out so they can have a successful, booming business.
Really excited that Hot and Spicy Thai is under new management. I've been waiting for some great Thai food close to work and it's finally here. The new owners have cleaned up the restaurant, totally remodeled the bathroom, redone the counter and I'm looking forward to what they'll do next. The beef massamun curry is excellent with slow cooked beef and potatoes. Most other places that serve massamun use curry straight from the store which tastes too similar to panang but this massamun definitely has something special going on. Love the Pad Thai with the al dente noodles. Not over cooked or mushy. And all the meat I've had so far are tender. Lunch special portions are definitely plentiful.
Great service and plenty of parking on a Sat night. We ordered a few dishes and they were all good. I was surprised that they do not offer any Riesling wine. Most of the Thai restaurants we've been to serve Riesling or Modesto. They have Chardonnay, however I prefer to have sweet wine when eating spicy Thai food.
Authentic. Awesome service. The crab fried rice is exactly like you get it in Thailand. The curries are strong in a good way. The Thai ice tea is not too sweet like other Thai restaurant. My kids love the fried pork ribs, juicy and tender. We are going back soon.
