Jema - Huntington Station

Eating and service were amazing. I got celiac and they took me without any problems. it was our jubilee and the staff in jema helped make it special.

Excellent from beginning to end. much better than his predecessor. best service I had in one.

Very limited menu. portion small. was not attentive. 3x after egg, salt, pepper and oil to dip brot asked. my man is a beating. very limited beer in the menu. pinot grigio not available. price for food and service.

We arrived and had a drink at the bar, they don't wear gray geese (even if the bartender says they are constantly asked and agreed to have it), but the cocktail I had was delicious and the bartenders were very friendly that we enjoyed it. we finished our drinks and sat for dinner. it was bad. we ordered wein from a menu of unknown bottles. the red was great, but the white bottle was disgusting to not drink. we refused the bottle first when we poured for the tasting, but the manager came by to tell us arrogant that we can own this bottle and not refuse. we let him know that we wanted to buy other bottles, and this one was unanimously not a good wine. he refused again and said they were not able to ask our question. ok. I drank instead the red and my friend tried unsuccessfully to drink the $80 bottle white. we have never returned a wee and that was not only bad, it was disgusting. clean and bitter, could have been the bottle, but he did not hear it. we decided to make the best of the night and ordered a few appetizers. the oysters came and our application to cocktail sauce was denied bc they did not serve, but add that they also get this request a lot. the grilled otopus was hard, but the mushrooms troplets were decent. our dinners came next. the short ribs were as described, but absolutely tasteless different. Actually, I could have eaten firewood, it was so smokey. the tintenpasta was terrible, our friend said it was practically unusable and the stripe-loin ok, but nothing special. I would like to add that the waitress was a doll, and we even laughed that we liked her a job in another restaurant bc as big as she was, we would not return to this restaurant. overall the experience lacked everything that makes a restaurant desirable and pleasant. they don't waste their time or money.

I would return because food good though I have had similar fare at other high end restaurants. Obvious care and detail went into the food and the execution was first rate. My only complaint was the overzealousness of the wait staff which was a disconnect from the quiet, sophisticated ambience. As a former waitress, I know wait staff cannot win: too enthusiastic, not attentive enough. Our waitress was good but I would have liked her to tone it down a bit.
