Contribuisci feedbackAlthough I currently live in Atlanta, I've been a fan of Stanlieo's since I was a child in the mid-1980s. During a recent visit to Huntsville, I couldn't resist stopping by for a Kitchen Sink! Stanlieo's remains the best sub shop in the world. The Jordan Lane location, which I believe is the original, hasn't changed much over the years, featuring classic arcade games in the dining area, and the food is still outstanding. The staff is cheerful, and the service is quick. If you find yourself passing through Huntsville, you definitely need to treat yourself to a Kitchen Sink or a Steak Bomb.
When I pulled out my credit card to pay, he suddenly claimed, "Oh, our credit card machine is down." Fortunately, I had cash. Just moments before me, a woman paid with her card without any issues, and he didn’t mention the card machine problem to her at all. When my order was ready, I told him my name was Andre for the pickup. When my food came up, he shouted "Dre" loudly and tossed the food onto the counter as if I were a dog. The place was quite busy as I left, and he was happily chatting and laughing with everyone, even a rude customer who was upset that his food wasn't ready yet, despite mine being served first. I had never encountered this cashier before, so I was baffled by his hostility. Unfortunately, I will never go back to Stanlieo's and will advise all my friends and family to avoid it as well. It’s frustrating because the food was likely the best sub sandwich you can find in the area, but customer service is my top priority, especially since I work in the restaurant industry myself. I doubt anyone will care about this feedback, and this post will probably be overlooked.
While the lobby and kitchen could use an update, don't let that deter you from dining here. The staff is welcoming, and the food is excellent. Whether you're a resident of Huntsville or just passing through, Stanlieo's is a fantastic spot to grab a sub.
I came by on Monday to grab some lunch. I saw a lot of reviewers saying they didn't think this place seemed clean, and let me just say that wasn't my impression at all. It's definitely kind of a hole in the wall, and older, but that's NOT the same thing as dirty. The tables were wiped down, the counter free of grime and clutter, menus weren't sticky, drink machines looked fine to me. So that's good! The restaurant has an almost sort of a retro feel to it, with an arcadegame and lots of sports team paraphernalia. The staff was friendly and was working hard a large crowd came in right after me and they worked diligently to get all our orders filled. I had heard so many good things about the Kitchen Sinkthat I sort of felt like I had to try it. I got mine without ham and onions. I also ordered a side of fried mushrooms because they're one of my favorite things. : So here is my problem: I tend to not like hot subs, and I also tend tonot like subs with a ton of different toppings (I'm usually a 1meat+1cheese purist . Kitchen sink is definitely not that. I personally didn't love it, but I didn't hate it, either! The bread had a really nice texture to it and the cheesewas nice and melty. As you can probably imagine, I will stay in my lane next time and go with something that's more in line with my preferences. That being said, those fried mushrooms were BOMB. Perfect serving size for a nice snack, delicious ranch dipping sauce, flavorful, crispy breading, and the mushrooms were the perfect size and shape. I'll definitely be grabbing these again, even if I can't find a sandwich that's to my liking. Stanlieo's is definitely aHuntsville institution. I look forward to returning to try more. ETA: the owner already responded super kindly and graciously to this review on Yelp. I love getting the chance to interact with business owners it really shows theycare and I so appreciate that fact. Even more excited to try another sub and get anothe
