During our time in Haikou, China, I have learned that you should never overlook a restaurant with only Chinese characters on display. We stumbled upon a hidden gem as we searched for some comfort food for a light fever - congee or porridge. Unfortunately, the porridge shop we had in mind was already closed by 8:00 pm, so we decided to explore Hurstville Central Station instead. Despite being hesitant at first due to the Chinese signage, we took a chance and asked if they served congee - and they did! We ordered fish and chicken ball congee, as well as roasted pork with rice. The restaurant was well-lit with ample seating, and the menu was promptly brought to our table. Our food arrived quickly, and the congee and roasted pork were delicious. The chicken balls were a standout, and the serving size of the roasted pork was generous. It was a satisfying meal and we left happy, eager to return.
